About the Sauber-Mercedes C9

The Sauber C9 is a Group C prototype endurance racing car designed by Peter Sauber, Heini Mader and Leo Ress which competed in the World Sportscar Championship from 1987 to 1990, competing in Class C1. Replacing the previous C8, the C9 was powered by a 5.0L twin-turbocharged V8 and was highly successful in the series. The car most notably won the 1989 Teams', Constructors' and Drivers' Championships in the World Sportscar Championship, with Jean-Louis Schlesser and Jochen Mass at the wheel. Six
