About the 1997 Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR
The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR is a GT1 class race car produced by AMG for Mercedes-Benz for the FIA GT Championship, at the time a motorsports and performance partner for Mercedes-Benz before becoming a subsidiary. Due to regulations at the time, a number of road-homologated versions had to be produced to allow the car to run in the series. The car was highly successful, winning both the 1997 Drivers' and Constructors' championships. The car was also used in the first two races of the 1998 FIA GT ch
